Welcome to Psyc 1009
This section involves an introduction to Psychology as the study of human behaviour. Firstly, we look at the science of psychology, examining the importance of the scientific method in psychology, historical and contemporary perspectives in psychology and how knowledge in psychology is generated through various research methods. Secondly, we will investigate various theories concerning how human behaviour is acquired through the process of learning. In the third component of the course, we will introduce the concept of abnormal behaviour, examining Schizophrenia and other psychological disorders, whilst the final section covers various therapeutic approaches aimed at treating such behaviour...[click here to see the rest of the course outline]
